As a 20-year-old with a whole lot to say, Kelly Lynn Barber opted to express it all through music and lyrics. Her lyrical prose transcends her age and her musical style often pushes the boundaries of pop/rock music into the realm of alternative rock. The last thing she wants is to be labeled as a “cookie-cutter pop artist.” Highly imaginative and expressive, she chooses to be different. She doesn’t hold back. And that is why she is worth listening to. Kelly's love for music has been alive for as long as she can remember, and she has already seen some success. She started dabbling in writing as a young child and finally began writing for real at age 12, when she started playing the guitar. In September 2011 she performed on the Rachael Ray Show with her high school's Glee Club on a rendition of the song "Heartbreaker" by Pat Benatar, which was her first professional performance. The number was put together in a matter of days and was performed flawlessly. Her first single "I'll Move On" was then released on iTunes in December 2011, which was followed by "A Hand I Cannot Reach" in April 2013. Both songs showcase two different sides to her personality, yet it is still clear that they are both by the same artist. She has an unmistakable stamp on her original work that no one else has. To date she has over 250,000 views on YouTube and thousands of fans spread across her social networks. With "Cold Reality" comes the next step in Kelly's music career. It is an EP comprised of her two already existing singles and two new songs, which was initially created as an effort to tide people over until her more demanding effort, "Breaking Barriers" was completed. However quickly it was put together, it doesn't fall short in any respect. In 4 songs it showcases several of Kelly's writing styles, all falling in the Pop/Rock category. She frequently states that this album is mostly a poppy album according to her standards and that "Breaking Barriers" will feature more Alternative Rock influences. Nevertheless, it features enough catchy hooks and driving guitars where both rockers and pop-lovers alike will find something to enjoy.
