From touring across the country with a gospel group to recording jingles, Kimber Manning has become a mainstay on the Nashville scene. With numerous television and radio performances under her belt, this Daytona Beach native has made her living singing since her early twenties. “Music has always been a part of who I am. I can remember being totally captivated by the music my dad played on the radio when I was a child…Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan had me from the first note. Those two women really knew how to make a song come alive,” said Manning. Fitzgerald was a major influence in Manning’s take of “Blue Skies” for her freshman release, “Eventually.” Recorded in just one take in the studio without any overdubs or electronic alteration, Manning effortlessly caresses each note with the grace of a seasoned professional. As Vickie van Dyke from The Wave 94.7 in Canada said, “…from wispy poets to brazen belters, Miss Manning finds a musical balance that delights the soul.” “Beyond the Sea” is a seamless stroll with an old favorite, while “At Last” allows Manning to blend her gospel roots with bluesy undertones. “At Last” also allows Manning to show the exacting abilities of her instrument and reveals the power the petite songstress possesses. Without sacrificing emotion or skill, Manning pulls back in songs like “When I Fall in Love” and “What a Wonderful World.” The arrangements remain familiar, yet the vocal treatment incorporates a gentle modern twist. Recording an album of mostly covers was an organic process. “As I was searching for songs to feature on my debut release, I found myself totally immersed in a collection of old love songs. The simple joys of life, love and laughter found in these songs is often lost in the music of today,” said Manning. “I wanted to give a younger generation of listeners the chance to discover the music I enjoyed so much as a child.” Kimber Manning is currently gearing up for a national tour.
