The Dubois’ are from Vermont. But their music is all over the place. They like to think they follow in the tradition of musical greats such as Syd Barrett, Sun Ra, Sebadoh, Superchunk and artists whose names don’t begin with s. Some of the the band members have silly names. There’s Wilandre, Wilandrew, Mark Harmon, Christmas Tree, and Dwiddle, and Jack O Lantern. Ryan Dubois (whose name isn’t all that silly) is the main dude, He writes and records most of the songs. Mostly he does all this so he can sing his little heart out. BUT WHAT ABOUT THEIR MUSIC? WHAT DOES IT SOUND LIKE? Good Questions. It is about time we get to that. Picture this: A man singing short little songs about his life. From Love to Poop. From Sadness and loss to Ice Cream Cones. Usually using a acoustic guitar and singing. There is also a drummer, another guitar and a bass. Now add to that piano, children’s toys, theremin, a thing called a muther plucker, banjo, ukulele, distortion, trumpet, trombone, delays, losts of pitch shifted vocal. synths, clarinet, a thing call the spare ribs, atmospheric sound replicator drum, little pink bunny, the rainbow bells. the disguster (a little fart sound making gun shaped thing), mandolin, zither and studio trickery. The songs are fast or slow and loud or quiet or both.
