简介

Daga was formed in Cochabamba, Bolivia. The city, located in the heart of South America, is notorious for being the stage of one of the 21st century's first Water Wars, however, it is relatively unremarkable when it comes to South America's rich Heavy Metal scene. Darlings of the Bolivian metal underground, Daga's live performances captivated thousands since their humble beginnings over 15 years ago.Their eponymous debut album was well received by critics and fans alike. Their shows were fabled and their songs grew a cult following online, many years after their original release, which preceded the age of Youtube and Facebook. The record received several awards at the local and national level including Best Metal album and Best Debut. After some changes to its line-up in 2006 the band began writing new music, performing and recording new material. For nearly a decade, the band kept the flame alive with sporadic presentations and a clamoring audience that anxiously awaited the release of a new record. As with any information vacuum, speculation began to bubble. Had Daga gone the way of other underground favorites? Had they disbanded? There were even rumors of an entire album being recorded and produced, only to be discarded by Daga's unsatisfied members. Throughout the years, the band fed its loyal following hints of new music, bread crumbs of hope for a darker, deeper sound that would eventually find light of day. And so it did. After nearly 11 years, Daga released Voices Within. Voices Within is a cohesive body of work that delves deep into the darkest corners of the human psyche. There are cavernous growls accompanied by sprints of drums that could rattle the strongest of head-banging necks; torturous tales of betrayal, anger and revenge. King of Pain speaks of the insurmountable pain of not being able to forgive oneself. "I am the rider of the night" shouts Mike Gonzales, an ominous message of self-inflicted doom. The album is dark and treacherous, with many levels of foreshadowing and impending violence. Guitars shred. Drums thrash. Bass drives. Vocals growl. All in all, Voices Within proves that Daga was never away or asleep, it was reloading and it came back darker, moodier, stronger and angrier than ever. This is a band at its best. A band that is constantly changing gears and going further, deeper into Thrash, Doom and Gore territory than it ever had before. In Out of Control, Gonzales sings from the depths of his bowels "feels like a motor, I'm out of control, feels like an awesome death". It truly does. For any Daga fan that might have been waiting for a comeback, you can die happy. It may even be an awesome death.
