简介

"Find Your Life" began as a poem called Secret Crimes, which I wrote over twenty years ago. I've always written poetry in my spare time, and had a dream that the late great Johnny Cash, whose voice I could hear singing the words, might one day sing a song to them. Find Your Life is a song for anyone who has ever felt despair, a personal song about how ANYONE can turn their life around, and that none of us is ever truly alone, whether we realize it or not. And, it's also about the courage required to say that out loud, and to act like you mean it, when you know better than anyone what your Secret Crimes might be, and when the world throws your past shortcomings in your face. The dream of a "Johnny Cash cover" didn't happen, of course, but the years did, and I wrote a lot of other, non-musical, material, eventually forging a "gig" as a biographer. Two of my clients, John Bumgardner, and Rich Redmond, play guitars and drums, respectively, on this single. Their books, on which I am the co-author, will both be coming out in 2017. John used to manage and tour with Paulette Carlson, and Rich, who has played with a TON of A-list artists, is currently the drummer for Jason Aldean. John helped craft the melody, and basically told me that "your poem is nice but it's too flowery for a Country song." He gave me a few tips, and I did the necessary re-work, and voila! Secret Crimes became Find Your Life: a song with a tune. The Nashville music community is crammed with talent, and, being its own small town, I had, over time, made friends with several musicians, who appear on the song. Dan Nadasdi (Piano) was for years the stage pianist for Michelle Wright, and Jackson Mayhall (Bass) and Brad Williams (Vocals) were undiscovered gems we may hear more from later. Nashville is still very much a songwriter's town, so I put my ego aside and let better musicians interpret the lyrics I had written. We all got together on December 10th, 2016, at Black River Entertainment's studio (previously known as Ronnie's Place, for prior owner Ronnie Milsap) on Music Row, and we had a TON of fun making this track, and its bar-song sister "We Pay For Our Drinks," to be released very shortly. Kudos and thanks are also due to engineer Justin Francis, who also mixed and mastered the track to its present quality.
