Without doubt Django Reinhardt was the greatest jazz guitarist ever. His style and virtuosity is unequaled until today. His musical home was the legendary Hot Club de France from the Thierties on until his early death in 1953. At the "HCF" Django met his musical friends and here the legendary "Quintett du Hot Club de France" was founded - an ensemble that not only featured Django but also his "alter ego" on the violin, Stephane Grappelly. All the musicians of the HCF were true masters on their instruments, and it is with those musicians that Django recorded his many records that were produced in the roughly two decades between 1933 and 1953. This new album contains 24 selections, highlights from studio sessions that took place between 1935 and 1947 and they show a musical break in Django's musical career. Django changed from acoustical to electrical guitar as early as 1947 and so this album splits into two parts. We hear the "classical" and the "modern" Django Sound.
