This album entails gorgeous melodies from Brazil, Argentina, Italy, and France. The performances of these pieces are breathtaking by two of the world's most heard musicians. The CD showcases Tom Boyd, oboist from more than 1200 motion pictures and concert pianist/composer, Marcelo Cesena, winner of the 2009 Brazilian International Press Award for the Best Brazilian living in the US. NUANCE was nominated for the 2010 Brazilian International Press Award for the Best Brazilian CD made in the US. The annual Brazilian International Press Award is The biggest celebration of Brazilian culture in the US Started in 1997, the Brazilian International Press Award is the most important and recognized event highlighting the promotion of Brazilian culture and community in the United States. Not only Brazilians, but people, institutions and events of many nationalities have received the “Newspaper Boy” award for their great contributions to the positive image of Brazil. In its ninth year of realization, the “Press Award” increasingly attracting the attention of U.S. and international media. It is also recognized as a strong bridge between North-American and Brazilian cultures. The Brazilian International Press Award is produced by PMM-Plus Media & Marketing with support from the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, TAM-Brazilian Airlines, EMBRAER and Banco do Brasil, Thousands of votes are casted by the general public through the official web-site www.pressaward.com. Those votes define the nominees in several categories, which range from US-Brazil Relations, Music to Sports, Community Affairs, Portuguese Idiom, Events, Philanthropy, Fine Arts and other Brazilian Cultural activities. A Final Judge Panel, consisting of 200 prestigious and well-recognized judges, among them journalists representing more than 250 Brazilian media, cultural leaders and Brazilian community representatives from several U.S. states, choose the winners. Artists Information: Tom Boyd is one of the most heard oboists today. Boyd has been a featured oboist in over 1200 motion picture soundtracks including, the Jurassic Park Movies, Prince of Tides, Forest Gump, Beauty and the Beast, Hook, Schindler's List, Castaway to present movies such as The Bucket List, Leatherheads, Charlie Wilson's War, 2012, Princess and the Frog, and the upcoming Cats and Dogs Sequel. He has played on the Oscars, Grammys, The Tonight Show with Neil Diamond, and hundreds of record sessions for various artist such as Barbara Streisand, Bette Midler's "Beaches", Josh Grobin, Andrea Bocelli on tour, and Natalie Cole playing the solos on the album "Unforgettable". A native of Pasadena, Boyd attended The Julliard School of Music and at the age of 22 won the 1st oboe position in The Honolulu Symphony. After 10 years in Hawaii, Boyd came back to break into the film Industry playing several months later on his first several movies "Indian Jones and the Temple of Doom", Bill Conti's "The Right Stuff ", and John Williams' "The River". Marcelo Cesena, renowned International Concert Pianist and Film composer recently won the 2009 Brazilian International Press Award for the Best Brazilian Musician in America. He has captivated audiences all over the world with his unique artistry and emotional interpretations, Highly acclaimed in the world of Classical music, he has performed as a soloist in prestigious concert halls throughout Europe, South America and United States. Living in Los Angeles. Marcelo is represented by the prestigious agency, CHL Artists The dynamic duo met while working on the soundtrack for the feature movie Watercolors, directed by David Oliveras. Boyd’s and Cesena’s intent of performing such music grew out of the desires to honor composers that have influenced them personally. In an opportunity to give back, they invited up coming composers to write arrangements of well-known motion picture melodies as well as original compositions to show cases their talents. Their passion is to reach people through playing their instruments in a more intimate and live setting. They have recently joined together to form the group "The Hollywood Soloists" as a way to bring gorgeous cinematic music to live audiences. At this point in their lives they want to give back to make this world just a little more pleasant place to live in.
