October of 2013, my beautiful aunt Antonella passed away after fighting a six-year battle with lung cancer. (The album cover features a picture of her). Many people nowadays are being diagnosed without even having smoked a day in their lives. She was one of those people. There is an awful stigma attached to lung cancer that if you have it "it's your fault". This disease is disgusting and brutal and it should not be categorized in such a demeaning way. Whether you smoke or not, cancer is cancer and there is no reason to accuse someone of "asking for it". It's a matter of life and breath. Did you know that annually lung cancer kills more people than breast, colon and prostate cancer combined? Before she passed away, Antonella told me the one thing she wanted people to know is that you don't have to smoke to get lung cancer. This EP was made to bring awareness to the world. People need to know. Proceeds received from the sales of Hope/Espoir will go to lung cancer research.
