Promise is a group of four sisters (Zina Hall, Tandreya Jackson, LaRhonda Martin, and Lia Javier), who regularly sing at their parent's church in San Pablo, California. They represent four of five children (the fifth being the only son, Josquin Jackson) born to Pastor Sam D. and Mrs. LaRue (Osborne) Jackson. Raised in the church, they began singing at an early age. Their mother taught them how to harmonize in four parts to many nursery rhymes. She also taught Zina and LaRhonda the basics of playing the piano. With that beginning the two of them played and composed a variety of songs very early on. For years LaRhonda continued to write melody after melody, but sang most as personal solos. Promise (then known only as the Jackson Sisters) continued singing in the church and rendered favorite selections by Evie, Lynette Hawkins-Stevens, Andre Crouch, Sandi Patty, Tramaine, and others. For years they were requested to sing at all kinds of occasions: weddings, funerals, city events, etc. But to their surprise, God had an ordained time for "Promise" to step forth and minister in song, not just in the church, but in places where most Christians would not go. Then, and only then, did the beautiful pieces that LaRhonda had written over the years and Promise's locking four-part harmonies come together. The catalyst? The Holy Spirit and the season of time.
