This particular single, Song of MJ, came about in a blatant in my face type of way. What I mean is I did the old, "Wherever my Bible opens, is what I'm going to read" thing. It opened up on Song of Solomon. I’m like ok cool a book I hardly ever read, does anyone for that matter. It’s a book about love and passion between Solomon and his bride. I began writing the song about mid-June 2015. I simply poked at it by taking notes and completing the chorus. Dr. Gerald Jeffers was in town a few weeks later so I went to attend his service and during his sermon he spoke from Song of Solomon. Hmmm!?! Now three days later I go to my home church and my pastor, Jason Webb speaks from, you guessed it, Song of Solomon. Now to me that is confirmation from Yahweh all day. So, I’m like, “Ok Lord I’m on it”. From that point I really took this subject matter seriously. I prayed about it and as usual asked Jesus for His yay or nay on things. The kicker though is that during this time I was in the most horrible place in my life emotionally. My marriage to my wife seemed to be coming to its end by way of divorce. I’m thinking why would He confirm for me to write a song about love when mine’s about to come to an end?!?! Just didn’t make sense at first but then God spoke to me. I still loved my wife, fought and made pleas a day before our court date. I laid my marriage on the altar and said, “Lord Your will be done”. From mid-April until July 8th I fought from my knees. Love still lived in me regardless of what I was going through at the time. Also, this song could inspire other married couples. I’m all for letting God use me to be a genuine blessing to others even when I’m juggling my own trials. My rendition of Song of Solomon, so please enjoy.
