Denver based Acoustic Rock band, A-Mac DZ, is pleased to announce the release of their highly anticipated new record, Rise Above. As a whole, the 5-song EP encompasses a laid-back acoustic-hip-hop-rock sound with elements of reggae and folk found throughout. Lyrically, the message aims to inspire people to "Rise Above" the corruption and various forms of oppression in our world, and turn the negatives into positives. According to Tony Mason (talent buyer for Lost Lake/Herman’s Hideaway), the album has a “Great blend of funk / jam/ reggae with upbeat sounds and uplifting lyrics.” Having instrumentation ranging from steel drum to cajón to banjo to saxophone and everything in between, the new A-Mac DZ sound is sure to spark the interest of a wide range of music lovers alike. Rise Above is the first A-Mac DZ record to feature a live 7-piece band, contrasting the previous eight albums where front man, Alex Mackenzie-Low, would multi-track record himself playing drums, percussion, bass, guitar, keys, vocals, banjo, sitar, ect., and then layer/mix/master the tracks himself. The new “supergroup” features members of Green River Vibe, Eddie Knolls, the DBC, déCollage, and Ancient Elk, and has been getting a great response from local Coloradans, frequently compared to artists such as Citizen Cope, Jason Mraz, Michael Franti, and Slightly Stoopid.
