Bio_ Q: Where did you grow up? A: Can’t say that I have. But I reckon Reno, Nevada is where I hail from. Q: When did you start writing music and playing guitar? A: I used to write raps in middle school. I was fascinated by wordplay and rhymes. I didn’t start playing guitar till I was maybe 19. Still ain’t that good at it. Q: What was the first song you wrote about? A: If my memory serves me, which it doesn’t, it was about a girl. Q: What did you do before music? A: What did anyone do before music? I studied literature and writing in college and tried to meet up with as much trouble as would have me. Q: What are some of your favorite books? A: Anything by Cormac McCarthy - Blood Meridian. There’s this scene with a dancing bear on stage. The antagonist shoots him while he tries to keep dancing. Something about that crosses my mind a lot. Q: Who are some of your (musical) influences? A: The Beatles, Pearl Jam, Johnny Cash, Rage Against the Machine, The Black Keys, Jack White, Ben Harper, Damien Rice, Kings of Leon, Beastie Boys, my old man, and memories of my Grandma singing in church.
