简介

Joan Browne is principal flute of the Oakville Symphony and the Celebrity Symphony and performs as a soloist at music festivals throughout Canada. She holds a masters in performance from the University of Toronto and has studied at Tanglewood with members of the Boston Symphony and at the Scotia Music Festival with members of Tafelmusik. International venues include Paris' Fete de la Musique. "Adagio ma non troppo" CD features beautiful and lyrical flute solos to the accompaniment of harpist Sharlene Wallace. Reviews have praised the release for its warm, sonorous flow featuring unique selections from the classical repertoire. She can also be heard on the John Laing Singers CD, "Merrily Sing We" and with Youth Choirs of America's 2006 Toronto recording. In the fall of 2008, Joan recorded "love Came Down at Christmas" with the St. James United Church Choir of Toronto with choir director, Clive Dunstead. Coming in July, 2009, Joan will record "Songs from Greenhayes" with soprano, Janet Obermeyer and John Laing. Oakville Today raved about Ms. Browne's solo performance of Mozart's Concerto for Flute and Harp with the Oakville Symphony, describing her as a musician of great sensitivity and depth who plays with bell-like clarity; "the First Movement belonged totally to her." Joan's playing has been described as "very refined" with "beautiful tone" and this is due in part to the inspiration she has received from many fine teachers including Jim Walker, Doriot Anthony Dwyer, Jeanne Baxtresser, Nora Shulman, Virginia Markson, Kathleen Rudolph and Gwen Klassen.
