简介

More than 350 recordings in 20 years are proof of the enormous popularity of Marcel Wittrisch, who has been part of the ensemble of the Berlin State Opera for more than 15 years (from 1928 to 1944). Wittrisch's voice was a highlight that could effortlessly compete against a large rivalry. Singers such as Helge Rosvaenge, Walther Ludwig or Peter Anders were veritable rivals, but Marcel Wittrisch found his place among them as "pares inter pares". Initially standing in the shadow of the great Richard Tauber, he soon freed himself from this situation by glaring with roles that were never sung by Tauber in this way. Real "recordings of the century" (in Germanlanguage) include the great duet from Meyerbeer's "The Huguenots" (with Margarete Teschemacher), the spectacular finale of Bizet's "Carmen" and Lohengrin's arrival - Oper scenes, in which Wittrisch together with other great singers of the Berlin's opera sets unique accents. Marcel Wittrisch died in 1955 at the age of only 52, but his recordings prove the great art of "Opera sung in German". With the voice of Marcel Wittrisch, these arias and scenes become a fascinating - indeed electrifying - experience. Operatic arias and scenes recorded between 1928 and 1938, carefully audio restored and digitally remastered in 24-bit HD in 2019.
