‘Perseverance Selects’ - thruoutin's first remixes release since 2015's ‘Service (The Shanghai Mixes) ’ – is a continuation of a larger project involving Cameroonian singer Abbe Shushu, ongoing since 2019. A selection of dark, club-influenced tracks, ‘Perseverance Selects’ consists of two experimental gqom inspired originals with vocal accompaniment by Abbe Shushu and co-production by South African producer ANXT. Also included are remixes for the songs Bazooka (feat. Abbe Shushu) and Waka Waka (feat. ANXT & Abbe Shushu) by Teno Afrika and ANXT, respectively. The two originals, previously included on Abbe Shushu's self-release 'Perseverance', round up humid, slightly skewed club rhythms, woven through trickling sound design. Their remixed counterparts further reconfigure the material and bring them into new territories of amapiano and afrofuturism.
