Each kit includes this CD, large colorfully laminated posters containing a complete set of charted lyrics and a teacher's guide with lessons, sheet music and chord symbols. The Heritage Collection consists of songs that broadly represent the American experience. Much that is greatest and richest in a community or nation is preserved through its song and music. Some songs are centuries old but still evoke feelings of pride, patriotism, hardship, humor, or nostalgia. These songs tie into particular eras of US History including Revolutionary War, Civil War, Underground Railroad, Gold Rush and westward expansion. The National Association for Music Education, (www.menc.org) compiled 88 songs "every American should know and be able to sing" and published them in two volumes as "Get America Singing...Again!"
