简介

Without doubt Louis Daniel Armstrong - nichnamed Sachmo - was the greatest jazz trumpet players of all times, and more: Satchmo was a perfect showman, a singer, a comedian, a composer, a lyricist and an arranger. There was obviously nothing he could not do. Grown up in the grand old Chicago tradition, Satchmo became Americas most beloved jazz ambassador. Armstrong enjoyed many types of music, from blues to the arrangements of Guy Lombardo, to Latin American folksongs, to classical symphonies and opera. He incorporated influences from all these sources into his performances, sometimes to the bewilderment of fans who wanted him to stay in convenient narrow categories. Armstrong was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as an early influence. Some of his solos from the 1950s, such as the hard rocking version of "St. Louis Blues" show that the influence went in both directions. And it is precisely this wide range our new album wants to cover: 50 Satchmo Highlights from Chicago-Style to Spirituals and Musicals up to Gershwin's opera "Porgy and Bess". 50 tracks and one title: All are "Simply ... Satchmo!" - Enjoy
