Brent Smith, Pastor of Buena Vista Baptist Church in Buena Vista, Colorado, is pleased to release "The View from the Cross." He has brought his wife, Leah, along with daughters Stephanie and Sharissa, to harmonize and accompany him on this journey through traditional hymns and original songs. Celebrate the love of God with Brent as he sings and plays his tenor saxophone. This is Brent's first release in twelve years, and it certainly shows how his musical style has changed. A much more reverent and mature conservative style has taken its rightful place through Brent! The photograph featured on the CD artwork is of the pulpit from which Brent has the honor of preaching from week to week. That is no mere mural or painting, but an actual majestic mountain vista as seen through a picture window behind the pulpit. It was this view that inspired Brent to write the title track to this CD, "The View from the Cross." The entirety of this CD is dedicated with great affection to the people of Buena Vista Baptist Church. Brent dedicates one song in particular, however - "The Word Is True" - to the residents (past, present, and future) of the Happiness Hill Christian Girls Home and Academy in Union, Mississippi. This song was inspired by these precious young ladies while Brent was on staff there. It is Brent's sincere hope and prayer that this recording will be a monumental blessing in your life, and that it will go toward introducing you to a loving fellowship with God the Father through His Son Jesus Christ, if you have not already come to know the forgiveness of sin.
