简介

This is a GREAT album! And make sure you also check out Dave Cox's newest release at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/davecox7 Dave Cox's 7th album is comprised of two chapters. Chapter I is country music- straight and true, while Chapter II is a Rockabilly tinged collection of songs recorded at the legendary Sun Studio in Memphis, TN. As usual, Dave provides more bang for your music buck: 14 songs make up this CD, all recorded with some of Nashville's finest musicians. Fans of Dave's previous albums will be delighted, as this might be his best album yet. There are a wide array of tunes that make up the album from chapter to chapter. Chapter I highlights include the title track- a song about having children and drifting through the circle of life. "A Little Bit of Physics" epitomizes the quirky and intelligent songwriting that Cox fans are familiar with; and, for the first time, Dave duets with Samantha Harlow on "I Don't Like You," a song in which a lot of married couples will swear was pulled straight from their own lives. The first chapter closes on a spooky note with the uber-personal "Lake of Fire" before rip-roaring into the Sun Studio chapter. Chapter II highlights include two songs in which Dave pays homage to two of his biggest influences in the studio where they became famous: "Wild Card" is a song that Carl Perkins demo'd but never released commerically, while "The Losing Kind" was recorded by Johnny Cash but also never released in its time. "Another Night" is a Cox-penned tune that shines in the Sun Studio setting, and "12 Bar Blues" is yet another in the long, lurid list of Cox drinking-way-too-much songs. "A Sunny Song" jams its way to closing the album and leaving the listener ready to press play again. The all-star list of musicians includes Kenny Vaughan, Dave Roe, Chuck Mead, John McTigue, Mike Sweeney, Scott Icenogle, Jimmy Clark and Andy Gibson; guys who've performed (or still perform) with the likes of Johnny Cash, Marty Stuart, Ray Price, Hank Williams III, Mac Wiseman, BR549, Raul Malo, Dale Watson and a whole hall of fame's worth of others. Another fine album by one of Nashville's most original songwriters. If you like the REAL stuff then pick this one up... And be sure to check out Dave's other most recent releases, including "Greatest Misses" and "Unbridled Enthusiasm."
