This house has a ridiculously high ceiling, which gave us the illusion that we were playing in a church. It’s rather fitting because this time we have songs about cruelty, sorrow, absurdity, and sometimes chamber-music-like styles. Even though an individual cannot represent a whole generation, every piece on this album is based on my experience living and growing up in Taiwan, my observations, beliefs, emotions, and what amused me, based on whatever information and entertainment were accessible. With the same group since 2013 - Terry Hsieh, Ikeda Kinya, Wei Chung Lin, we’ve been frequently performing, transforming out material, and experimenting with it, as if we’re trying to decide with what kind of sounds and shapes we want to employ, to represent or challenge this place that we care about and live in.
