In the 1990's through the early 2000's she released several recordings and toured with Susan and the SurfTones. The band's approach to instrumental surf music was more of a traditional surf guitar approach more in line with The Ventures as opposed to Dick Dale. With the release of her first CD, "Shore" as Susan SurfTone, her style evolved to more of a rock/pop style incorporating Surf, '60's Garage, Blues, British Invasion and '70's/'80's Punk/New Wave. She does not sound like anyone else nor does she fit into the reverb-drenched traditional style of what many know as "surf music". This is a new modern approach for a genre that is often regarded as static.
