The Maro: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is an illustrious orchestral score written by Aram Mandossian for the independent film. Maro is director Michael Tedford's visually stunning drama about a man and his quest for love. The score is an eclectic mix of styles and is a throwback to the classic film scores of the past by its use of recurring themes and melodies, rich harmonies, and is performed by a large orchestra. This parallels the highly stylized look that Tedford employs which makes the film itself an homage to the golden age of cinema. The themes and orchestration draw inspiration from many sources ranging from middle eastern music to a post-romantic Ravelian sound with soaring soprano vocals realized by Carin Gilfry’s angelic voice. The score makes use of a few Renaissance instruments in addition to the orchestra and the album contains an intimate solo piano reprise of the main theme in the track entitled 'Silent Movie.' Composer background: Aram Mandossian, a Hollywood native, is quickly gaining a reputation for his rich textures, powerful orchestrations, and a unique sensitivity toward storytelling. Aram has scored dozens of films and he currently writing music for several TV shows. He also holds a graduate degree in music from USC where he studied with composer Christopher Young.
