He was born in Leningrad, Soviet Union and studied at the Glinka Conservatory and those of Leningrad and Moscow. 从艺历程：Kitayenko was music director of the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra for 14 years. He has also held principal conductorships with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra (1990–1998), the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra (1990–1996), KBS Symphony Orchestra (1999–2004) and the Bern Symphony Orchestra (1990–2004).
