Wendy and I have been playing together for more than five years now, primarily as 'The Celtic Rathskallions', a touring children's show specializing in school performances. Wendy started the Celtic Rathskallions in 1998 and has been touring the show ever since. If you've got kids, check out our CD on CD Baby! She's also a professional oboe player, having played in the Kingston, Canada orchestra for many years. For over 38 years, I owned the Ottawa Folklore Centre, a community based folk music shop in Ottawa, Canada. The business closed in 2015 due to the changing state of retail, music, community and me! Wendy and I started playing 'grown-up' songs and tunes that we each enjoyed. This is the first recording that we've accomplished. This recording was produced a by Paul Mills. Paul produced Stan Rogers, Sharon Lois and Bram, Ron Hynes and many other great recordings. His alter ego, Curly Boy Stubbs, played on many of these recordings as well as live shows by John Allen Cameron, Ron Hynes, Sylvia Tyson and others. As well, Paul created and produced the now-defunct CBC radio show, 'Touch The Earth', hosted by Sylvia Tyson. When I first moved to Ottawa, I lived in a co-op with a train fanatic named David Woodhead. Since those distant days, David has become one of Canada's finest bass players, having played with folks like the late Oliver Schroer, and currently with his own band, Confabulation. David has added some of the most subtle parts of this recording and I am forever in his debt.
