Mr. Davis has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony and the Philadelphia Orchestra, as well as the National Orchestra of Spain and three of London's reigning orchestras. He made his European recital debut at the Festival of Two Worlds, Spoleto, and has has appeared in recital in Great Britain and throughout the United States and Canada, including performances in Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Place des Arts (Montreal). Mr. Davis has a vast knowledge of opera and vocal music, and he is a frequent guest on the Metropolitan Opera's intermission broadcasts. Ivan Davis has recorded with Lorin Maazel and the Cleveland Orchestra, and with Eugene Ormany and the Philadelphia Orchestra, as well as with the Royal Philharmonic, with conductors Henry Lewis and Edwin Downes. Critics from New York to Los Angeles have echoed The Guardian (London): "Davis brought something like intoxication to the whole audience. Since 1965, Davis has been a professor of music at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida.[7] According to Grove Music Online: "His Queen Elizabeth Hall début recital in London in 1968 caused a sensation, and has become a collector's item on record. Further recordings, largely of 19th-century showpieces, have confirmed his exceptional exuberance and technical brilliance, most notably a Gottschalk recital of true virtuoso flair."[8] The American classical pianist Richard Kastle was his student for more than three years. 早年生活:Davis received his Bachelor of Music in 1952 from University of North Texas College of Music,[1] and an Artist's Diploma, as a Fulbright Scholar, from the Santa Cecilia Academy in Rome. He won second prize in the 1956[2] and 1957 Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition and first prize in the 1958 St. Cecilia Piano Competition. In April 1960, Davis won the Franz Liszt Competition at Town Hall, New York City.[3][4] Davis studied under Silvio Scionti, Carlo Zecchi and Vladimir Horowitz. 家庭:On August 6, 1960, Davis married Betty Lou Saxton, who studied at Juilliard and Columbia University.
