Hal Lindes

Hal Lindes

简介:Hal Lindes (born in Monterey, California) is an English-American guitarist and composer. In 1980, Hal began recording a solo album with the legendary producer Al Kooper, along with Herbie Flowers on bass and John Bradbury (The Specials) on drums. The project was halted mid-stream when he was invited by Mark Knopfler to join the British rock band Dire Straits; becoming a band member, recording albums and touring the world. During his five year tenure with the group, the band grew from playing small clubs to performing in sold out stadiums. It was while performing on some of the cues for Mark Knopfler's score for 'Local Hero' that Hal discovered a passion for composing music to pictures, and in 1985 he left the group to pursue film composing full time. Lindes has composed music for a large number of films, and continues to enjoy tremendous success, winning various awards, including a Royal Television Society Award for the BAFTA award nominated film Reckless and a TRIC award for Best TV Theme Music. He is best known for composing the score to The Boys Are Back, a Miramax film directed by Scott Hicks and starring Clive Owen. In addition to Dire Straits, Lindes is in demand as both guitarist and arranger with many distinguished artists. CD releases in 2009 include tracks on Sony's Third Stone From The Sun (Jimi Hendrix Tribute), El Becko (Jeff Beck Tribute), Get The Led Out (Led Zeppelin Salute), and Brian Tarquin's solo CD Fretworx as well as iTunes download release of The Music from Apparitions Score CD.[citation needed] Lindes performs concerts from time to time with Johnny Hallyday.
