Hello everyone! My name is Fabricio Monteagudo. I am brand new artist here at CD Baby and I am looking forward to sharing much wonderful and beautiful music with you. My brand new compact disc is titled AMANECERES. It is the Spanish word for "dawn" or "daybreak". In a way this CD is the dawn of a new phase in my career in music as a recording artist. A dream turning into reality, finally after all these years of hard work but also joy. The enjoyment of the process of becoming great is a process I totally love and immerse myself completely. I will always be in that process simply because there is always something a musician and artist can improve on. The compact disc contains music for guitar solo, piano solo, piano with other instruments and guitar with other instruments. The music of Cuba and Argentina are well represented on this disc. It contains guitar music by the world-renowned Cuban composer Leo Brouwer (Tracks 1-8, 14) and a suite for flute and guitar called Suite Habana by Eduardo Martin (tracks 18-21) I had a wonderful friendship with the great Cuban pianist-composer, the late Maestro Rene Touzet (1916-2003) His solo piano music is an important missing chapter in the history of classical solo piano music from Cuba. In the tradition of Manuel Saumell, Ignacio Cervantes and Ernesto Lecuona, Rene Touzet not only updates the Cuban danza but enhances them with a romantic music language with advanced jazzy harmonies and excellent uses of syncopated rhythm. You will find a solo piano poem and three of his many danzas for solo piano. "Amanecer" is a short poem for solo piano that truly captures the beauty and wonder of a gorgeous sunrise in the morning. The other three are great danzas by the Maestro. "Nostalgica" reveals the composer's longing to return to his native homeland, the fondness of wonderful memories of his homeland before Fidel Castro took over and realizing he could never set foot in his homeland again as long as Castro continued to be his country's dictator. "Exotica" is a very pretty danza he dedicated to a girlfriend he courted long after his wife had passed way and "Melancolica" is one of his most beautiful and soulful of his danzas revealing the universal feeling of melancholy, inspired cathartic melancholy. My final goal is to record all of his piano works as a gift to him and the Touzet family, whom I have contact with. To this day, there is not a day that goes by that I do not think of the friendship I had with Maestro Rene Touzet. I will never be the same again. He was one of those very special persons that gave us new perspectives on life and transformed our lives. He will always be in my heart as I continue to perform his works with great love and respect for him. For all classical music collectors that love the Cuban piano music of Saumell, Cervantes and Lecuona, give Rene Touzet a real shot!! You will love what you hear and there will be much much more to come in subsequent recordings!!!! I am an absolute fan of the New Tango of Astor Piazzolla. There is a beautiful and moving Milonga en Re for violin and piano on this recording. I want to take this opportunity to thank with all my heart the violinist on this track, Beatriz Vera for doing such a wonderful job with the darkly gorgeous melody of this piece! The guitar music of Maximo Diego Pujol is truly fantastic. His Tres Piezas Marginales, for flute and guitar, like in all of his works combines his own his signature style of writing with the influences of Astor Piazzolla's music. With great gratitude and love, I say a big "Thank You" to my colleague and musician, the flutist, Oderlyn Gutiez-Bello for her great work on these lovely pieces.
