Climate change due to human activity is a great concern for many people nowadays. Scientists have even gone so far as to announce the dawning of a new era, the Anthropocene. As an artist, I couldn't be left untouched from this unprecedented situation for our planet. "Climate Change Trilogy" is comprised from three pieces written in different time periods which however explore the same theme. Part one (Bad Weather) tries to reconstruct a Tarkovskian aesthetic through sound; Part two (Tropicana) deals with deforestation and is partly inspired by John Boorman's film "The Emerald Forest"; Part three (The Last Wave) draws inspiration from Peter Weir's film with the same title, Nadine Gordimer's short story "Loot" and the work of the artist Arman. Sometimes our civilization looks like a work by Arman: beautiful from a distance but full of rubbish when you look closer. As for the rest of the pieces that comprise this album: "Elegy" is a fantasy on a theme by Schostakovitch, "The Rhythm of the City" is a memory of our analog days and "Woolgathering" was composed for the compilation "54 electroacoustic miniatures" (see www.essim.gr).
