The lyrics and the title of the track represent the fact that most hip hop fans today don't know where the genre of hip hop came from. Many hip hop fans are unaware of it's roots and the four elements that make up hip hop culture. It's time to crack open the books and learn something about where hip hop came from and what hip hop is all about! The best way to do this? Through hip hop of course-- hence the emphasis on the "MICS" in the word "AcadeMICS." Cuts are done by the infamous homeless DJ, DJ 501.
