In February 2015 Seven Eleven presented their new album ‘Back to the Source’ at the Melkweg in Amsterdam. ‘Back to the Source’ was produced in London by guitarist/producer Rob Manzoli, the creative mind of the English pop-group Right Said Fred in the nineties, with whom he scored monster hits such as ‘I'm too sexy’, ‘Don’t talk just kiss’ and ‘Deeply dippy’. After Manzoli left Right Said Fred in 1997 he worked with Junie Morrison, Outkast, Sugababes, Jocelyn Brown, Lady Miss Kier and George Clinton. It was Manzoli’s production work for George Clinton and Funkadelic in 2013 that prompted Seven Eleven to get in touch with him. On ‘Back to the Source’ Manzoli has turned Seven Elevens funk-jams into real songs with astonishing results. The record was not only produced but also mastered in London and sounds fresh en funky. The band thinks it’s the best record they made so far. It’s not the first time Seven Eleven crosses boundaries with their music. In the past the Dutch funkateers collaborated with American funk artists and musicians such as Fred Wesley (JB Horns, Horny Horns, Parliament), Menace (Bill Laswell), Mudbone Cooper (Bootsy's Rubber Band, The Funk Unity Band), Dawn Silva (Sly Stone, Brides of Funkenstein) and Jeanette Washington (Parliament, Parlet). In 2012 Seven Eleven presented their anniversary album ‘25 Years and still funkin'’, which was quoted to be "the best Dutch funk album of all time". A jubilee tour followed with concerts in the Netherlands, Belgium and France. In 2014, the band released a live album: ‘Live in Uden’. ‘Back to the Source’ is the band’s 8th album. In addition to the core members of Seven Eleven, the album features other noted musicians such as Louis Johnson (Brothers Johnson, Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson), Rob Manzoli (Right Said Fred) and The Special Request Horns consisting of Jan van Duikeren (trumpet) Guido Nijs (sax) and Louk Boudestijn (trombone).
