Growing up in a small town in Pennsylvania, John began playing guitar as a teenager and went on to pursue music education at a local state university. After school John continued to pursue music in several bands and lead music at his church. All the while he never considered himself a songwriter. Then in 2012 while he was in the hospital recovering from Lyme disease John was inspired to pursue songwriting. He was experiencing a host of emotions and fears about life and songwriting seemed like a viable way to express them. He began to explore the vast new world of songwriting and the more John wrote, the more his passion for the craft grew. Much of his early writing was influenced by songwriters such as Paul Simon, The Tallest man on Earth and Bob Dylan. Encouraged by a close friend, John was soon sharing his songs at local open mics in listening rooms, coffee shops and bars. Eventually more and more doors opened up that allowed John to perform live showcases, and he was soon playing venues in Philadelphia, Bethlehem and New Jersey. All the while John was gaining valuable lessons from pears as well as experienced songwriters.

By the winter of 2013 John began to record his first EP “Person”. Drawing from themes of human connection, lost love, and empathy, “Person” delves down deep below the surface to the core of the human spirit. Musically the record is relatively simple. Driven mainly by acoustic guitar and voice with ambient undertones. This approach accentuates the lyrical content and brings the listener into a state of restful contemplation. John recorded the EP with his friend Joe Wolensky in Joe’s small home studio. Released in October of 2014 “Person” experienced mild success in the local music scene and gave John’s music some momentum as well. 2015 brought many more opportunities and growth in John’s music career featuring showcases at venues such as Godfrey Daniels, Steel City Coffeehouse, Melodies Café, the Trocadero, Steel Stacks at Artsquest, World Cafe Live and Musikfest.

In August of 2015 John and his band had the honor of participating in PBS39 “Steel Sessions” which is a local televised program featuring promising local artists from the New Jersey, Lehigh Valley and Philadelphia areas. Then in the winter of 2016 John began recording his second EP “Sleep”. Drawing from his love for folk and electronic music John created a collection of songs from his home “studio”. Experimenting and learning as he went John was soon ready to share his new music with the outside world. Set to release in December of 2017 “Sleep” embodies the struggles, joys, highs and lows of the human experience.
