John's musical journey began back in high school when he bought his first guitar. At that time he had been heavily influenced by bands like MxPx, The Get Up Kids, Blink 182, and many other pop punk and Indie bands. After entering college he began to gain an interest in Jazz and proceeded to study that heavily. It was in college that he delved into artists like Simon and Garfunkel, Radio Head, John Coltrane, Wes Montgomery, Miles Davis and Joe Pass.

During college John began playing guitar in several bands and continued that for several years, but It wasn't until late winter in 2012 that his passion for songwriting was awakened. It was during a stay at the hospital recovering from Lymes disease that he watched the documentary "Bob Dylan: No Direction Home". He was greatly inspired by Dylan and his journey. After leaving the hospital he spent the next five weeks writing songs, and soon was playing out at local open mics. After a time, John began performing local cafes, restaurants and community events and soon he was playing shows at local listening rooms and venues. As his playing increased his passion for songwriting grew and in November of 2013 he began recording his debut EP "Person". John's Journey as a songwriter has only just begun.
