简介
Jill’s love of music started at a very young age when she began playing the guitar at 9 and songwriting at 11. When her Uncle played her a live version of Joni Mitchell singing ‘A Case of You’ she thought it was the most amazing thing and became a huge fan. At 15, Jill joined a country band called Jacksonville. By this time her influences were Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris and Shawn Colvin. By 18 years old she was doing more solo gigs, concentrating on songwriting and had the pleasure of supporting Roger McGuinn from The Byrds. Jill Jackson burst on to the music scene back in 2003 as front woman of Scottish fourpiece 'Speedway'. Having enjoyed chart success with their debut single, double A-side 'Genie In A Bottle / Save Yourself' flying straight into the Top 10 followed by two further hits 'Can't Turn Back' & 'In & Out'. Gigging relentlessly through 2003/04 with numerous festival appearances and tours, including the Bryan Adams tour. “When Speedway came to an end I decided to go back to my roots and play the kind of music that I love- Dolly Parton, Shelby Lynne, the Stones, Buddy Holly, Chet Atkins (one of my favourite guitarists!) and Joni Mitchell. I just wanted to strip the whole sound back and perform some new music.” Jill recorded an acoustic album at the beginning of 2006 and did an extensive 30-night tour supporting Nashville singer/songwriter Kevin Montgomery whose band included the legend that is Al Perkins, who performed with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris. Having spent the latter part of 2006 in Nashville where she performed at the legendary Bluebird Café, Jill is now in the completing stages of writing material for her new album which she’ll record back in Nashville.
