ART WITHOUT AUDIENCE Ghost Mountain first formed in 2007 in the haunting hills behind Byron Bay, from which they get their name. The atmospheric alt rockers are known locally for alchemising vintage sounds with modern takes and their first full-length “Art without Audience” does not disappoint. The follow-up to their cult-pop eponymous “Ghost Mountain”, this album tempers elegant lyricism with almost baroque-like arrangements. Snarling guitars and soaring keys intertwine with arresting vocal duets from Sal Yates and Christian Pyle. Their alternative singer/ songwriter sound is influenced by the likes of Neil Young, Heartless Bastards and Wilco. Ghost Mountain writes and produces lamenting tales that examine the wondrous amongst the mundane while staggering down the road of continual forks and bends. There are fragile lyrics, lilting harmonies and classic rock songs. And there is music that will unleash the spirit within.
