ABOUT THE ARTIST Since 1989 The Israelites have established themselves not only in the Los Angeles area but across the country and Mexico by playing countless venues and festivals. They have shared the stage with such artists as; The Skatalites, Derrick Morgan, Justin Hinds, General Public, Bad Manners and many more. The Israelites are uncompromising in their mission to play Authentic Jamaican Ska and Reggae which originated in Jamaica in the late 1960's. They are also uncompromising in their lyrics which have a strong spiritual message. Though the band portrays a strong Christian image they in know way wish to force the gospel on anyone. Their lyrics reflect their lives. Though originally from Los Angeles, The Israelites are now based in Oregon. ABOUT THIS ALBUM Jamaican Celebration is a cd dedicated to The Skatalites. The Skatalites are the original Ska band from Jamaica. They were responsible for helping Bob Marley and many other Jamaican singers make it to the top. The title track, "Jamaican Celebration" is a fusion of several Skatalite tunes. The first 9 tracks on this disc are from the Israelites first cd "Wash Away" which is out of print and the remainder are new tracks engineered by Jay Bonner (Former bass Player for the Aggrolites).
