Before I picked up drums a few years ago I originally used the drum track from Song 2 by Blur for this song, and that meant I ended up using that song to help structure this one. The other main influence was The Vines 'Get Free'. It influenced the main guitar hook, and also the vocals in the second verse of Get Free gave me the idea for the chorus vocals.

The song's meaning is a pretty simple one, just getting away from somewhere you don't want to be, either being a physical place or a mind-state, but being stuck there. When writing it, it was about a physical place, I live in South East London and it's not exactly somewhere I want to live forever. I also hated the job I had at the time so that was also part of it.
