An affirmation is a positive statement (in the first person, present tense) which brings about changes in thinking and behavior, when repeated in speaking, writing, and singing. It is a statement that may not be true now, but which one wants to be true in the future. The process of using affirmations is somewhat like self-hypnosis in that suggestions are given to the subconscious mind in a relaxed state. Just as advertisers use musical jingles to remind us of their products, these songs were created to remind people of positive ways to think about, or approach situations. At the same time, the music and lyrics can be used as a way to bring about self-soothing and self-calming. The album was created to facilitate self esteem and emotional health.
