简介
Rap trio Dos Monos, who reinvented themselves as a "band" with their 2023 album "Dos Atomos", return with their new EP "Dos Moons", marking their first release in about a year. The cover artwork is created by none other than Junji Ito, the legendary horror manga artist behind cult classics like "Tomie" and "Uzumaki", whose chilling style has captivated fans around the world. Lifelong admirers of Ito's comics, the members of Dos Monos personally approached him for this dream collaboration. Each track on the EP was composed from scratch, drawing inspiration directly from the newly illustrated cover. Drummer Kazuya Oi and saxophonist Kei Matsumaru - both key contributors to Dos Monos' current live lineup - also feature as guest musicians. "Dos Moons" contains four tracks: "Gilda", the lead song that erupts from horror-inspired sound effects into cycles of explosion and collapse; "Pearl" a wildly unconventional metal song previously released as a single; "Lee Merlin", a percussive and chaotic mic relay built over a jagged beat; and "Oz", a track where metallic textures spiral through rapid transformations. Mixing and mastering were both handled by longtime collaborator The Anticipation Illicit Tsuboi, a legendary figure behind the group's sonic identity. In May, Dos Monos will launch their largest solo show to date at Tokyo's Spotify O-EAST, kicking off their first domestic tour, "Tour D", which will visit three cities across Japan.
