VENTI PETROV Lumiere Ballet Artistic Director, Ballet Master and Choreographer Venti Petrov is a graduate of the Sofia National Choreographic Institute of Bulgaria. In New York, he continued his ballet training with founder and director of the New York Conservatory of Dance and one of the twentieth century greatest teachers, Vladimir Dokoudovsky. He has been an award winner at several international ballet competitions and has performed in Europe and in more than 20 States in America as featured dancer with Arizona Ballet and Tulsa Ballet, as principal dancer and resident choreographer with Omaha Ballet Theater, as principal dancer and guest artist with Arlington Ballet, Connecticut Ballet, Suzanne Farrell Ballet, New Jersey Ballet, Nouveau Chamber Ballet and Sioux City Ballet. As a guest artist for the 2002 New York International Ballet Competition Gala at Lincoln Center, he presented and danced his own choreographic creations: Bach Air and Patten Pending. As ballet master and scholar, Venti Petrov has been giving lectures at Morningside College in Sioux City. In addition to co-directing and teaching at Lumière Ballet he also teaches at the New York Conservatory of Dance. While dancing and performing in an extensive classical and contemporary repertoire, Venti Petrov creates ballets ranging from romantic and heroic to comedic using a diversity of musical sources. His ballet works include Romeo and Juliet Pas de Deux to music by Gottschalk, an original version of Les Patineurs, Domino and Twinkle with music by Mozart and an original version of Sylvia Pas de Deux. Venti Petrov just premiered the first-ever classical story ballet “El Cid” with his own musical arrangement of Jules Massenet operas. In collaboration with prominent pianists Michael Zeiger, Ferdy Tumakaka and Olga Merson, Venti Petrov has released three CDs for ballet classes.
