This Troubadour project started a while back as a way of archiving my work as a singer and songwriter. It’s now been 30 years and while most of the material has been recorded with various musicians in various configurations and production I wanted something that brings the music back to its essence which is the voice and guitar telling stories of people and places and ideas to big not to be in a song. The project always struck me as a bit self-indulgent but these songs/stories are like my children. They come from someplace I can’t quite identify and are gifts from the muse to me. Special thanks are in order to Bill Kingsbury. He was the guy in 1987 who convinced me that I could write songs that 1) it would be satisfying and 2) people would listen and join in the conversation. So here I am 30 years later and Bill you were right. The music here is presented just the way it was written, just me and the guitar and the muse (plus a few really cool songwriting partners on some of the cuts).
