简介
Every successful band has the album that first put them on the musical map. For The Pozers, their second release, ‘We’re The Pozers and so Are You’ is that album. Aside from its many awards, high volume of sales worldwide, and considerable amount of radio airplay it received at the time, it’s a historical album on a number of levels: 1. It was the first full length album recorded and released by The Pozers. 2. It was the first Pozers' album to be released on both CD and Cassette. 3. It was the last Pozers' album to ever be released on Cassette. 4. It was the last Pozers' album to be recorded at Elm Street Recording Studio in Paris. 5. It was the first Pozers' album to receive worldwide distribution. 6. It was the last album and tour using The Pozers' original image/gimmick, which was each member of the band would dress like a musician from a different genre of music, illustrating that poseurs exists in all genres of music. The Pozers first photo session revealed a glam rocker, grunge rocker, biker, and cowboy. On ‘We’re The Pozers and so Are You’ the biker and country guys were replaced with a punk rocker and prep. 7. It was the last album to be promoted more from touring rather than the internet. When this CD was released, the internet was still in its infancy so The Pozers promoted this album the old fashion way--on a series of tours…playing everywhere, mostly headlining, but occasionally opening for some established artists. Some people mistakenly think ‘We’re The Pozers and so Are You’ is the debut album released by The Pozers, but it is not; that honor belongs to The Pozers self-titled, ‘7 song EP’ which was released only on cassette a year earlier. To give a little background on the origins of The Pozers and how all this transpired, we will have go back to January 1994, when Jim Richey formed The Pozers and they began playing the club circuit throughout the southeast United States. Their "big break" came when “T.N.A. Records” (Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas) A&R manager, Mark Lee, caught the band’s show at Dallas City Limits and the next week, signed The Pozers to a record deal. Shortly after, The Pozers signed a management contract with “6th Floor Management” and a publishing deal with ASCAP publishers, “Mirror Town Music.” In May, 1994, The Pozers entered the famed “Elm Street Recording Studio” in Paris to record and release their debut album: a seven song EP simply entitled, ‘The Pozers.’ The EP cassette went on to sell over one-thousand copies in just three months. This success prompted T.N.A. Records to sign The Pozers to a multi-album record contract and finance a full length CD and promotional campaign for The Pozers. In April, 1995 The Pozers returned to Elm Street Recording Studio to record what would become, 'We're The Pozers and so Are You.' Legendary vocalist/songwriter, Joey C. Jones (from the C.C. Deville Band, Sweet Savage, and The Glory Hounds) was the Executive Producer of the album and sang on three of the songs. Other local celebrities and friends of the band made guest appearances on the CD, including Craig Bradford (from The Glory Hounds, Nobody’s Children, and Needle Park), who played guest guitar on a song. Eric Moreno engineered the album and sang on a track. Mike Maddux did the art production, Ray Harrison and Chris Means did the photography, but ALL of the songs were written by Jim Richey and Kenny Swann. After seven grueling months in the studio, the CD, 'We're The Pozers and so Are You' was finally released on November 18, 1995. Sells of the CD began to skyrocket throughout the south-central United States followed by radio interviews and a substantial amount of airplay. Only two short months after the CD's release, it was picked up by two worldwide distributors: "Perris Records" and "Delinquent Records," which got the album overseas. The band's success in the European and Canadian market exceeded any and all expectations T.N.A. records and 6th Floor Management. This lead to a feature in Metal Edge magazine (followed by several articles in most major rock magazines and newspapers in America and abroad) and a United States tour. The Pozers toured from 1995 through 1997 promoting 'We're The Pozers and so Are you. The tour finally ended in Longview, Texas in April, 1997. Musically, 'We're The Pozers and so Are You' has been described as “glamgrungepunkrapthrashcountry” with melodic speed metal overtone, however The Pozers choose to ignore such labels.
