In March2012 pianist Nico Huijbregts invited six young improvisers to record with him in duo formations without a single note on paper and with no agreements made beforehand. These six meetings have resulted in Dialogue Dreams, a double CD with 24 duets that reflect the many facets of these talented young musicians, sometimes lyrical, sometimes theatrical, modest, cheeky, witty or emotional, and above all: driven. Musicians: Nico Huijbregts - piano, Simin Tander - vocals, Laia Genc - piano, Jasper Stadhouders - electric guitar, Bram Stadhouders - acoustic guitar, Mete Erker - tenor sax, Dion Nijland – bass. Tenor saxophonist Mete Erker, guitarists Bram and Jasper Stadhouders, singer - voice artist Simin Tander, bassist Dion Nijland and German pianist Laia Genc distinguish themselves as imaginative improvisers who get the deepest out of their instrument. Tander is rattling like a machine gun. Mete Erker brings tension and balance with his thoughtful lyrical melodies. Jasper Stadhouders can be furious on the electric guitar in his dialogues with Huijbregts, who scrapes his notes and sounds fiercefully out of his piano. Ostensibly unobtrusively bass player Nijland plays his smooth lines, and pianist Genc together with Huijbregts miraculously manage to merge two pianos into an organic whole.
