Rub 'n' Tug专辑介绍：by Rob TheakstonBy the time Eskimo got around to releasing Rub 'n' Tug's Campfire, word had gotten out about the N.Y.C. duo's legendary loft parties, where mixing obscure disco with slow jams à la DJ Harvey was the norm and not the exception. Campfire, named after one of these parties, is a wonderful field recording/souvenir of what it's like to be there. A smattering of disco meets house meets unclassic edits is the order of the day here, played somewhat poorly. Mistakes are made; things are EQed and punished in a way that would make Ron Hardy wince and purists scoff in disapproval. But in many ways, this is the revival of a sound that was started way back in the days when loft parties were at their prime, when genres were blatantly disregarded, and when the only rules were to dance and to enjoy the music. Sometimes these experiments work, and sometimes they don't, but there are no apologies being made by either member of the group. This is worth every penny for anyone who likes disco and house music a little bit on the risky and adventurous side.
