简介
Melbourne based, Darwin born, Jennifer Kingwell is a musician and performer of ‘delicious contrasts’, crafting songs that range from punk ukulele anthems and sultry piano ballads to epic alternative pop. A classically trained pianist who dropped out to pursue computer music and multimedia, Kingwell’s songs – like much in her life – are a study in duality, balancing tradition and experimentalism, the cerebral and the visceral. She is currently working on her debut EP ‘The Lotus Eaters’, a collection of songs inspired by dreams, exultation, mythology, astronomy and temptation, with influences as diverse as Rachmaninoff to Coco Rosie by way of Kate Bush and Patti Smith. Possessing a voice described as ‘dynamite’(T-Squat) and ‘ranging from silver tongued angel to gruff pirate’, Jennifer Kingwell is nothing short of ‘a formidable powerhouse’ (Herald Sun).
