简介
My music stems from my life experiences – emotional and reaching into the depths of what it means to be human. I like to create word pictures that speak to universal feelings of both agony and ecstasy. Sometimes I use words that have already been written, such as from Kahlil Gibran’s “The Prophet” or David Whyte’s poem “The True Love” - but mostly I come up with my own way of saying things. I always have a melody ready to come out. The trick is finding a form for the melody that not only fits the words but that can wear a rhythm and a texture that together communicate the feeling that speaks the most effectively to the most people. It ain’t easy. But the wonderful thing is, I honestly feel that the best songs I’ve ever written are not really written, but given to me, like a breath or a gift from somewhere in the Universe. I cannot explain it and I cannot always demand when it happens. I’m not prolific – I just remain open; at least I like to think so.
