简介
Bio: The Rubes The Rubes are Kevin Wilson and Walter Fixsen. They began writing and recording songs together in 1989 with a third original member, Bruce Kerr, who died in 1999 after a long illness. In the beginning, the songs were recorded live, with whatever equipment and instruments were available. In the beginning, the songs were recorded for laughs. A few sessions in a real studio in 1991 expanded their horizons. Never a performing band, The Rubes considered their recordings of original songs as demos and worked to improve their quality in hopes of interesting music publishers in their unique style of songwriting. In 1997, Bruce's son, Adam Kerr, a gifted musician and writer, joined The Rubes in their studio for some legendary sessions. His tragic death in 1998 brought all momentum to a halt. Bruce's death a year later extended those doldrums. But those ten years of musical archives will not lie quiet. Barnyard Productions handpicked sixteen tunes for The Rubes first cd, remastered the recordings and produced THE RUBES-UNDISPUTED, available through Amazon.com, CDBaby, and elsewhere. THE RUBES-UNDISPUTED is dedicated to the memory of Bruce Kerr and Adam Kerr, dear friends who will not be forgotten. The Rubes’ unreleased second album, TRUANCE, and their third, RUBODELIC, will be released when the time is right. Meanwhile, “Leisure Animal,” from RUBODELIC, gives a sense of the loose-jointed, jug band feel of the album. * A novel written by Kevin Wilson, THE ROUTE, published by Barnyard Books in 2001, recalls in fiction the origins of The Rubes as part of the larger story of Peter Foster, a character based on Bruce Kerr. Bruce Kerr was one of a kind. That's him on the cover of the cd.
