Hip-Hop artist Philly 5 is continuing to have success with his latest album, “HARD PRESSED” which was nominated for “Best Rap/ Hip Hop Album Of The Year” by the National Covenant Awards Committee. A prestigious honour reserved for the nations top artists. To add to the mix, Philly was also nominated for “Best Rap/Hip Hop Song Of The Year” for his hit single “Swagger” A song in which he co-wrote with Grammy Nominee Fresh IE. “HARD PRESSED” is Philly 5’s sophomore release and first full-length album. Philly wrote the album being inspired from his real life experiences. Philly has always desired to bring positive, influential music to the forefront of the industry and was pleased to be selected. Though it was Philly’s first time to receive the nominations, he was not new to the media exposure the nominations induced. The Singer/songwriter has made numerous television appearances including the live international television talk show “100 Huntley Street, which was aired to millions of viewers globally. He also appeared as a guest host on the night time television program” Nite Lite Live”, where he performed the single, “What Do You Want” from his new album: HARD PRESSED. Philly also performed for CTV’s morning talk show ‘Canada AM’ during a national fundraising effort for Joe’s Place youth centre. Philly has enjoyed performing for the 2010 Sask Winter Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies, and for The 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, BC. Recently the song ‘Streets of Gold’ a collaboration Philly wrote for fiddler Scott Benson, was selected for the SASK IN TUNE 2011 compilation.
