The incredibly talented Dr. Jeremiah Akin has played multiple instruments with a variety of Moscow, Idaho based acts including bass guitar for Daniel Botkin of the internationally famous band Runaway Symphony; keys and rhythm guitar for pop-culture icon Bart Budwig; and lead guitar for Americana supergroup The Anymore. In 2009 his experimental and extremely subversive pop-punk band, The Shoves, was featured in the Pulse section of Moscow/Pullman Daily News. Although playing with bands had provided a fun and interesting outlet for Jeremiah's musical talents, it had not fully satisfied his urge to create a musical masterpiece. Besides, his Christlike humility, virtuosic talent, and godlike stage presence were too much for band mates to handle. The combined forces pushed him to branch out on his own. After a 3 month period of monastic solitude, Akin stated in a fall 2010 interview with Rolling Stone that the goal of his solo career was to "make [music] that kind of transcends through parabolic story telling." In a recent press release he said that he doesn't know how well he has succeeded in achieving this goal, but he hopes fans are satisfied with his recently released album. The new release features the talents of producer, singer-songwriter, and former band mate Bart Budwig; jazz drummer Tiffany Stephens; the infamous Cooper Trail; upright bass by John Nuhn; and many other guest appearances. The final product is an eclectic but tasteful blend of genres ranging from jazz to rockabilly with a hint of pop and a heavy dose of poetry.
