简介
Linn Brown is a songwriter who plays keyboards and sings. She started writing early in life and was part of a songwriter’s collective at the Red Herring Coffeehouse in Urbana, Illinois. She opened for and sang back-ups for Dan Fogelberg. At the Red Herring she was part of the weekly songwriter line-up, and was a featured artist at the Fall and Spring Folk Festivals. While living in Boston, MA, she played regularly at the Nameless Coffeehouse in Cambridge. In Ithaca, New York, she performed with the Dean Brothers and was a regular performer at The Rongovian Embassy, Nite Court, and The Unicorn, where she opened for Livingston Taylor. Linn lives in the San Francisco Bay Area and has performed at local venues including the Noe Valley Ministry, the Jazz House, The Red Cafe, World One Day, KBBK Studios, and Coast Studios. She performed at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs, NY and in Trumansburg, NY, at the Rongovian Embassy, with Stage Fright bandmates, John and Berto Dean. Recently she participated in the Red Herring Reunion Concert in Urbana, Illinois and in Watkins Glen, NY with Dean's List-John and Berto Dean, Kate Ellen Dean and Caroline Manning, where they had a special Stage Fright CD release party. In years past, Linn’s music could be heard in the form of television news themes and station promotion songs. Currently, her recorded music is streamed on Spotify, Apple Music, Rhapsody and many other online music services. Linn comes from a family of performing musicians and music teachers. She studied music education at the University of Illinois, and arranging and composition at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Linn found her calling early in life. She told her mother she'd like to be a songwriter...to be in the background. She also found a true calling to work with people who weren't neurotypical. She specializes in music lessons for people with developmental disabilities, or other non-typical learning styles, including giftedness, and has provided private music lessons for dozens of students over the last twenty-three years. At Ala-Costa Center in Berkeley, CA, she led a weekly chorus for students and staff at the center. She taught private lessons there, as well. For thirteen years she provided music classes for the West Contra Costa Early Intervention Program where she travelled to their preschool classrooms. She provides weekly day care music classes for infants and toddlers at Nini’s Place and Dinha’s Place in Richmond Annex, and at Hugs & Kisses in Oakland, as well as her for her private music students. Linn is currently working on a new collection of songs; recording and releasing them as singles through CD Baby, iTunes, and other online music stores.
