On his sixth album, “Grapes From Canaan”, Brian is falling into a very naturalistic and comfortable combo-genre of music that he’s been slowly developing over a very eclectic body of music. Taking the meditative nature of his earlier ambient and spontaneous work and combining it with the simplistic, folk-gospel approach found on his previous album, Brian discovers a new sound that is honest to himself and to the spirit he sings from. If Brian’s previous album, “Poor Man’s Process”, is sung from a dark, shadowy place in the wilderness, “Grapes From Canaan” unfolds from the sun soaked field on the other side of that difficult, wild place; A walk through the grass, reflecting on the growth found in struggle, the sound of hope, and finding strength to continue on.
